Planning

This thought is directed at Project and Programme Managers but everyone involved in planning a project should share responsibility.  Ensure that sufficient time and resources are allocated to making certain that user and customer facing project deliverables will be usable.  If activities, including user requirements analysis, user-centred design and usability testing are not planned into a project then it is very unlikely that they will ever be undertaken.  As priorities and requirements change and deadlines become tighter the chances of adding activities to plans become more remote.
