alt tags

For reasons of accessibility and assistance it is good practice to use alt tags.  They allow users who can’t see the graphics on a page to still understand and use the page.  Further, even when a graphic is visible, users can obtain valuable information from well phrased alt tags.

Alt tags on graphic text should not simply repeat the text, but should offer further information, possibly including information about the page that will be navigated to.
